Gardens Open for Charity
Two gardens in Warley Village will be opening for charity as part of the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday 12th July, 11am to 5pm. Adult admission to both gardens is £5, children free. Please park in Stock Lane, Warley, HX2 7RW.
Edgeholme is a country house garden with colourful mixed herbaceous borders, natural hillside stream, formal and informal ponds. ‘The Garden Quartet’, will be playing light classical & popular music 1.30pm – 3.00pm. Cream Teas & Plant Sales.
Green Hill House is a family garden with woodland glade, formal lawn, topiary, herbaceous borders and courtyard plus an ‘I-Spy’ trail for children. Local artist Genevieve Thompson will be showing her fused glass garden sculptures. Teas & Plant Sales.
A map giving details of the short walk between the gardens will be provided pointing out many of the landmarks in this historic village including the unique allotments some of which will also be open to view.
Profits from refreshments and plant sales will be for Overgate Hospice, Elland. All ticket money will go to the NGS which in 2014 distributed £2.5M to charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Hospice UK, Carers Trust and Parkinson’s UK.
